Meet the Author

Shanice Solan is a Registered Practical Nurse, Personal Support Worker, Poet, Singer/Songwriter, and Author of the children’s book series Branches Of The Vine. Born and raised in Mitchell Town, Clarendon, Jamaica, she recalls looking forward to spending Christmas and summer holidays along with her sister Rasheda visiting the Bustamante Hospital for Children in Kingston, Jamaica, where her aunt Lorna worked as Registered Nurse. During this time, her love for babies and children grew significantly.  With over 3 years of experience working in the community as a Pediatric Nurse in Ontario Canada, she has had the liberty of working with children with physical disabilities and medical needs. In this series she has a way of making each character relatable to those with special needs them selves or those who’ve had the experience of being around them. She is known for her caring personality, her ability to make everything into a song, her many laughs and her voice-over abilities. The one thing she wishes is to continue to bring out the smile and laughter in every child she meets—even the child in you.
